Rob Overbeck is putting together the Indoor Soccer league and he needs the following information:
1. Who is going to participate?
2. Do you prefer Tuesday or Thursday evenings?
If you're interested let Rob know. E-mail him at rob.d.overbeck@wellsfargo.com or call him at 513-484-3997.
There will be a $30-$40 charge for participation. The festivities will be held regularly at Soccer City in Springdale. This is the same location where they were held last year and are located near Rob's palatial estate. For those that don't know where Rob lives, this is close to where Cross-County Highway (known as the Reagan Highway to Republicans) and I-275 meet.

QCRFC SUFFERS FIRST LOSS IN SEASON FINALE
November 6, 2004, Levey Middle School/Detroit, 1:00pm Kickoff
Conditions: Sunny and Cool (a remarkable feat for Detroit)
A-Side QCRFC 0, Detroit 38
If England’s summer tour of the Antipodes was ‘A Tour Too Far’, this had to have been Queen City’s ‘A Game Too Far’. With the conference title on the line, events did not play out as hoped. To be fair, Detroit was a solid and skilled team, particularly among the forwards in the loose play where they were devastating at the breakdowns. However, even at a disadvantage in the struggle for ball, Queen City found a way to play for field position off the boots of both flyhalf Alex MacLeod and fullback Juan Immeroni and with good running from all of the backs. The entire backline (Steve Kurzhals, Jeff Marshall, Aevion Blackwell, Scotty Sherlock, and Juan) all ran hard and did a great job gaining some much needed territory through individual efforts. Unfortunately, three close run attempts at goal in the first half all came up empty. Had at least one or two of Queen City’s efforts found the tryline, it is likely that the second half would have been a much different game. This is not to say that we necessarily would have won but the points would have contributed a much needed morale boost. However, this was not to be. Rather than dwell too much on describing the second half, let it just be said that Queen City never put their heads down and continued to fight until the end. Had they not, the score would have been much worse.

QCRFC WINS AGAIN. PREPARES FOR HUGE FINAL LEAGUE MATCH
QCRFC 43 Dayton 20
Was not there, so details are sketchy as of press time. Match was marred by several altercations, with a penalty try awarded against QCRFC near the end of the match. Hopefully a match report will come soon...
This win means that QCRFC plays for the league title this weekend. It also will be the toughest challenge of the year vs. a very strong Detroit Tradesmen side at Detroit.

QCRFC OVERCOMES SLOW START TO FORCE TIE W/LOUISVILLE
October 23, 2004, Woodlawn Field, 1:30pm Kickoff
Conditions: Overcast and Cool
A-Side QCRFC 12, Louisville 12
While at the end of the day the result was a tie, this game was in reality a huge victory for the club. Louisville has been a traditional powerhouse of the conference and has in recent memory scored some big wins over Queen City. At the last AGM, everyone agreed that a worthy but formidable goal was to be able to compete with teams of Louisville’s caliber. I doubt few at that meeting expected to not only meet that goal but to play at a level where victory was in grasp in only a year’s time. The result was an even bigger boost in that Queen City never relented and although down 12 points most of the game, were able to come back and tie the game in the last 20 minutes or so.
Without a doubt this game was probably one of the best the club has played in some time. Set play was good marred only by a few lost lineouts; however, Louisville lost just as many. Although the stats on the rucks were worse than some previous encounters, the forwards played hard at the breakdowns all day and with help from the backs, Louisville was unable to exploit any advantage. At the final whistle, the defense had bent some but did not break. Although held in check much of the game, the backs appeared ready on offense to break out at any moment. Finally in the last part of the second half Queen City finally wore down the visitors. Jeff Marshall and Adam Wall both found the try zone and with Aevion’s one converted kick and what could only have been a heartbreaking miss on the second attempt, Queen City tied the score to remain unbeaten and stay atop the league.

QCRFC "B" SIDERS AND OTHERS FALL TO WSU
With a bye week in the league schedule, QCRFC scheduled a match with Wright State University for the "B" siders who usually don't see a great deal of action. This crew of newer players, along with a few tranisents who found their way to the field and volunteered to play, played a spirited game vs. the Raiders. The final score saw WSU earn a well deserved 30-10 victory (or something like that), but gave our guys some quality experience and our A side a week of rest. Thanks to WSU for coming down and playing!
League play resumes this week with a big one! QCRFC will be hosting Louisville on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 1:30 pm. QCRFC has not beaten Louisville in several years, and hopes to change things this weekend. QCRFC currently sits at 3-0 in league play, and win would cement the club in the Spring Midwest Playoffs.
